About the Local Digital Declaration

The Local Digital Declaration is a shared ambition for the future of local public services.

It was written in 2018 by a collective of 45 local authorities, sector bodies and government departments. It has been signed by more than 300 local authorities and supporting organisations since its launch.

Who can sign the Declaration

Any public sector and non-profit organisation in the UK that is working to improve local services is invited to join the movement by signing the Declaration.

You will need two people from your organisation to sign the Declaration:

  • the main contact – someone who completes the form and will be the main person we contact regarding your organisation’s commitment to the Declaration principles
  • a formal signatory – a senior person with the authority to sign the Declaration on behalf of your organisation, for example, a CEO or political leader

What you’re signing up to

By signing the Local Digital Declaration, your organisation joins a growing community committed to the shared vision of the Declaration.

To make sure real changes start to happen in your practice, culture and outcomes, you’ll make a commitment to digital transformation connected to the Declaration principles.

How to sign

To sign the Local Digital Declaration:

  1. Read the Local Digital Declaration.
  2. Check if your organisation has already signed.
  3. Consider how to put the Declaration principles into action. We’ll ask you for a statement of up to 250 words.
  4. Make sure your formal signatory is aware we will contact them to confirm your organisation’s commitment.
