The MHCLG Digital Planning Programme

Digital Planning is a dedicated programme within the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG). Join us in #DoingPlanningDifferently as we work to use digital to modernise England’s planning system.

You can find out more about the work of the team by reading our programme overview document (this document was published under the 2015-2024 Conservative administration), or use the clickable menu to find out more about each area of our work. A plain text version of our programme overview is available here. If you require another format please email the team.

You can visit our Digital Planning Case studies page to read more about our funded projects and find out more about Digital Planning funding offers here. Another valuable resource for public and private sector stakeholders in planning is the Digital Planning Directory – a ‘one-stop shop’ for digital planning services, bringing together state-of-the-art tools and resources in one accessible location. The Directory is seed-funded by MHCLG and delivered and managed by the Digital Task Force for Planning, an innovation-led not-for profit organisation.

We share Digital Planning programme news on the MHCLG Digital blog and regular updates about our work on LinkedIn. You can subscribe to our LinkedIn newsletter ‘Doing Planning Differently’ here.

If you don’t have a LinkedIn account we share past editions of our newsletter on this page.
