Purpose: The Digital Planning Improvement Fund is set up to support Local Planning Authorities to adopt modern planning practices by improving:
- planning data
- digital capabilities
- development management software
Type of fund: Invitation to apply for funding. We will score your application against a criteria and funding is limited to successful applicants.
Eligibility: Local Planning Authorities (LPAs) in England
Funding available: £50,000 per LPA
Dates:
- Applications open: 11 December 2024 (application form)
- Deadline for applications: 31 January 2025
- Successful applicants notified: February 2025
The Digital Planning Improvement Fund will provide Local Planning Authorities (LPAs) with the funding and support to adopt modern planning practices within planning data, digital capabilities and development management software. The Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG) will fund LPAs to: To apply for this fund, you must: We will not accept applications from: £50,000 is available for each successful Local Planning Authority. The fund can be used to: MHCLG will make payments to successful local planning authorities under Section 31 of the Local Government Act 2003. Payments will be made to successful applicants within the 2024 to 2025 financial year with spending expected in the 2025 to 2026 financial year. Once your organisation has completed the activities identified in your action plan, you may be able to access further funding through the Digital Planning Continuous Funding Model. For example, you could work with your current supplier to improve your planning software access new software such as PlanX and BOPS (Back Office Planning System)
