Local Transport Plan 3 (2011 to 2026)

The Bournemouth, Poole and Dorset Local Transport Plan 3 (2011 to 2026) covers the Bournemouth, Poole and Christchurch conurbation along with the rest of Dorset and sets out the long-term strategy for travel and transport.

The LTP3 is based around a set of 5 priority goals, 3 of which are:

  • Supporting Economic Growth
  • Tackling climate change
  • Improve quality of life

Parking is identified as one of the ‘key issues’ within the LTP, with specific reference to the role parking can play in generating congestion, its impact on the environment, and its influence upon the local economy.

According to figures released earlier this year Bournemouth is said to be in the top 10 of most congested places in the country. As part of our parking strategy Bournemouth Council, with partners, want to understand the key benefits to having an efficient parking system and how this will benefit these key priorities. Bournemouth Council understand that this is a common problem that multiple local authorities are looking to address and find solutions to.
