Luton Borough Council

Outcome of Expression of Interest: Not shortlisted

To understand how we can change our job evaluation and recruitment process to allow us to recruit for potential.

Recruitment in to local authorities is becoming more and more difficult with an increasingly challenging candidate market. Traditionally LAs work to very rigid job descriptions that require evidence of experience rather than a candidates potential, values and a “can do attitude.”

Our aim is to reform our job descriptions and move to job families. Part of that reform will include developing behavioural competencies and attitudes and widening the candidate pool. The long term goal would be to utilise a digital approach to support job evaluation, recruitment, advertising and talent management.

We want to be able to create new digital processes and solutions that will allow us to recruit more people from our “super diverse” town, create better job opportunities for local people and result in high quality service delivery. More young people will be successful in gaining employment with us.

  • Digital leadership training (for council leaders, service managers or senior executives)
  • Digital and agile awareness
  • Agile for teams

Other training requests

We would require training in culture change to assist with the adjustment to the recruitment process.
